I was considered a mutant by my family. An outcast, a freak, because of my lack of color. Not one minute of my family life was most definitely not joyful, for me at least. My parents never made a scrapbook displaying some of those moments like ‘first word’ or ‘first steps’. In fact the hallways of our luxurious mansion were lined with photographs and portraits of everyone in our family, but me. They would tell their rich friends that I was not their child, that I was from a long lost relative, who left me to them.
I am Snowflake CrumbleCake, and I know what it feels to be an outcast, a freak. My life was crumbling and I didn’t know what had to be done in order to resurrect it.
Every second spent breathing in the same room as them, they stared. They bore into my skull with their eyes, full of hate.
I would’ve done anything to be able to isolate myself from them, to be free from their hateful ways. I was thinking of ways to possibly achieve this ,when mother opened the door.
"What do you want, Mother?" I asked. I had no idea that what she was about to say would change my life forever.
"We have arranged a marriage for you, to a man who is actually worthy of color" She spat.
How could they do this to me? This was too much to bear.
“W-what?” I trembled. Never in my life have I been so shocked, and scared.
“The marriage will take place they day after you turn 18.” She stated coldly.
My life was already crumbling, and with this, it was pretty much non-existant. I was a living ghost. No place to be or a reason to go on. But I refused to give up.
As the number of months until my eighteenth birthday neared. The more I isolated myself. I would go out to our backyard garden for peace. I could worry and cry there without being disturbed.
Although, one afternoon, I was disturbed. And it was by my sister, Lavender Truffle, who was always looking for ways to make me sad or upset.
“Awww! Look at little Snowflake crying because her mommy wants to get rid of her by marrying her off to Salty Truffle.” She hissed.
“At least that means I can leave my berry hole of a family behind!” I shouted.
She was satisfied, she knew I was now more upset than before, a strided proudly back into the house.
Tears sprung from my eyes, running down my cheeks and finally hitting the ground. I had no hope left, and my only option was to run away before the wedding. But I had nowhere to go, I was trapped. No one would offer me a place to stay, I was a freak to them. An alien. I would be marrying a man who wouldn’t give a berry about me. I had to do something…
Wow! That really deep. I feel bad for her but I hope things get better. Keep up the good work!
